1. Today I went for a hike with Zorro, my dog. We originally went up to Guanella Pass to hike part of the Abyss Lake Trail (it’s a round-trip distance of 16 some odd miles). Well, for some reason, I was convinced a mountain lion was following me (don’t question how my brain works), so I turned around.

But we pressed on to Maxwell Falls in Conifer. I’ve only ever done this hike in the winter, and it is a quick 4 mile loop; however, because the falls are in a valley, one must ascend on the return route (one of my least favorite activities). I would recommend this hike to anyone who lives near Denver, and woke up too late to do a real hike. It’s pretty enough, it requires minimal effort, and it’s close to the city.
